AONTAS is the National Coordinator for the European Agenda for Adult Learning in Ireland. As part of the Learning Today for a Better Tomorrow project (2015-2017), AONTAS in collaboration with Skills for Work, undertook ‘EU Exchange for a Better Tomorrow’, a professional exchange.

EU Exchange for a Better Tomorrow - Part 1

AONTAS is the National Coordinator for the European Agenda for Adult Learning in Ireland. As part of the Learning Today for a Better Tomorrow project (2015-2017), AONTAS in collaboration with Skills for Work, undertook ‘EU Exchange for a Better Tomorrow’, a professional exchange.

The delegation of eight comprised of the European Projects Officer at AONTAS, three Skills for Work staff, including their National Coordinator and four Skills for Work learners, coming from diverse backgrounds including: host families for student exchanges (Mná an Tí), a logistics warehouse operate and an employee at a semi-state railway company.

My love of exploring new languages has introduced me to the culture and music of others

European Day of Languages (EDL) takes place on the 26th September and one of its aims is to encourage the lifelong learning of languages. To celebrate the EDL, adult learner Annette Murphy tells us about her love of exploring new languages.

Annette‘s story:

As a young child, I gained a knowledge of a variety of languages from my adoptive father. He studied a number of languages for the Inter Cert and visited many European countries in his youth such as Spain, France and Greece. From an early age, his passion and love of these countries, their culture and language had a big impact on my interest and love of languages.
