Workplace Learning
Funding for workplace learning initatives has decreased in recent years but there are still some opportunities. There are several ways you can take part in workplace learning and these can be formal and informal. Training can often be provided by an external training provider/instructor which can be delivered in the workplace, a classroom or by distance learning. I some workplaces in-house training is continually delivered by members of staff with the skills which are being utilised for training. This is often described as on the job training. However everyday learning is continually taking place in workplaces throughout Ireland in more informal ways such as,
- observing colleagues
- listening to colleagues
- asking questions
- discussing a task which you may lack a particular skill to complete a job with a colleague and following this sharing your skills with each other
- mentoring
- self-studying
