What Next : How does the qualification system work?

Information on Qualifications

·         Before choosing a course to study adult learners should do a bit of research;

·         Find out what, if any, qualification will be awarded upon completion of the course

·         Know the institution's awarding body

·         Learners should always fully research the qualification before commencement.

Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) was established as a new amalgamated agency (replacing the now dissolved agencies Further Education and Training Awards Council, the Higher Education and Training Awards Council and the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland and incorporating the functions of the Irish Universities Quality Board). Since its establishment in November 2012, QQI has continued the integration and further development of its qualifications and quality assurance services. In August 2014 QQI launched a new award brand and logo and withdrew the transitional FETAC and HETAC logos . This new brand identity will first appear on certificates in early 2015.  This change will not affect existing holders of FETAC and HETAC certificates, who will continue to have their qualifications recognised within the National Framework of Qualifications.
