A Greener Tomorrow through Community Education
Working towards a future where everyone is well equipped to participate in and adapt to a world shaped by climate change.
This project is funded through the New European Agenda for Adult Learning (NEAAL)
Funded by the European Union. What is a “just green transition”?
A just green transition means shifting to a sustainable, low-carbon economy in a way that is fair and inclusive. It means addressing climate change while ensuring that all communities, including the most vulnerable, have equal opportunities.
This involves promoting renewable energy, green jobs, and sustainable practices, while also supporting those displaced by climate impacts and engaging marginalized groups in the process.
Climate change will impact vulnerable populations more acutely. We need an immediate focus on changes with social justice in mind. The goal is to create a resilient and equitable society where the environmental and social benefits of the green transition are shared by all.
What are AONTAS doing?
We’re partnering with Saolta for a new project called “A Greener Tomorrow through Community Education”.
In collaboration with Saolta, we’re offering a free Global Citizenship Education “Train the Trainer” course and €1000 financial support to help you implement your idea for promoting just green transitions with adult learners. This unique programme is exclusively for CEN Members and will run over 12 weeks from September to December 2024.
First, Saolta will run a free Global Citizenship Education “Train the Trainer” course in September. This unique training is available to CEN Members only.
It will consist of two Zoom sessions and one in-person session in the month of September. Participants will also receive one-to-one mentoring and group mentoring sessions from Saolta.
AONTAS is then offering €1000 towards costs for running your own programme with adult learners to help people in your community to be understand and adapt to how our world is changing because of climate change.
Five CEN members will be selected to take part in training on how to design and deliver a Global Citizenship Education programme and will receive financial support to implement an innovative idea in promoting just green transition with adult learners in your communities.
In the application form, you will be asked to briefly describe your idea for a project focused on just green transitions. This opportunity is open to AONTAS CEN members only.
