AONTAS believes that a learner’s own personal experience provides important information that can be used to improve services and policies.

It’s important that adults returning to education are consulted about the type of education and training they need, as well as the supports they require to complete the courses on offer. AONTAS has previously consulted with learners to find out about their experience of these services and, because of this, SOLAS has tasked them with the important job of developing this forum.
The second meeting of the National FET Learner Forum event was held on 7th April 2017 which was attended by 100 FET learners from across Education and Training Boards (ETBs) in Ireland.
The development of this work is guided by an Advisory Group which includes SOLAS, ETBI, Department of Education and Skills, Department of Social Protection, NALA, INOU and Adult Learner Representatives.
