We’re aiming to reach 100 practitioners in total this year.

We will provide tools and materials that promote eco-friendly practices and sustainable learning.

We’ll be facilitating networking opportunities among community education practitioners.

We’ll create a platform for sharing best practices and innovative approaches to community education.

We’re fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among people from lots of different organisations.

We’re empowering practitioners to become agents of change in their communities.

AONTAS On the Road – the story so far

We’ve been “on the road” quite a bit over the last couple of years. Let’s take a look back at some highlights.

Our Community Education Officer Lorraine visited Women’s Collective Ireland back in August of 2023. WCI are committed to working with grassroots women to address their diverse needs through the communities they work with using a community development model locally and nationally.

Also last summer, Lorraine went to the Irish National Organisation for the Unemployed (INOU) Learning Hub, to learn about their programmes aimed at unemployed people nationwide. Find out more.

We also visited the Central Remedial Clinic (CRC) in Dublin, a voluntary organisation and national charity working with children and adults with disabilities. Find out more.

And we also paid a visit to Roscommon Women’s Network (RWN), a local community project and charity dedicated to supporting women and families in County Roscommon. Read about it here.

Last May, Lorraine went to HACE – Henrietta Adult and Community Education Service – on Henrietta Street in Dublin. They are a dedicated community education provider, offering a variety of education programmes and activities for adults in Dublin’s North Inner City. Read more here.

Lorraine also went to Women’s Community Projects in Mullingar, who support women in the local community with new skills and classes to enhance their lives. Read more

Our former colleague Amy visited the Matt Talbot Community Trust back in January 2023, who work with adults living in Dublin with experiences of addiction and/or the criminal justice system. Find out more about that visit here.

And all the way back in June 2022, Amy went to Blue Teapot Theatre Company, a multi-award-winning theatre company, performing arts school and community theatre programme in Galway City for people with intellectual disabilities. Read about the trip here.

There is lots more to come with the “On the Road” project so watch this space.
