Generators for Sustainable Development (GSD)

This project is about how adult education can tackle climate change and work on sustainable development. Sustainability is crucial for tackling climate change and ensuring social and economic well-being. The UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide specific objectives and targets for sustainability

Start date: December 2021 

Duration: 24 months 

From an educational standpoint, learning about this can help us move towards a more susatainable way of life.

The GSD project aims to foster skills for sustainable behaviour and development.

The project seeks to raise awareness and empower adult learners to make sustainable choices and initiate community projects like green initiatives or supporting community members. 

AONTAS are helping to gather case studies from our members, shining a light on adult education practice aligned with the SDGs. 

Who is involved?  

Several organizations from different European countries are part of the project.

In Germany, the organisations involved are the Blended Learning Institutes Cooperative leads the project from Gottingen.

In the UK, it's the Apricot Training Management Ltd, located in Leicestershire, Rutland, and Northamptonshire.

From Lithuania, it's Europiniu inovaciju centras from Kauno apskritis, Kaunas.

Smart Revolution SRL, situated in Toscana Massa MS, Italy, also plays a role in the project.

Also involved are Stiftelsen Kursverksamheten Vid U-Universitet in Uppsala län, Uppsala, Sweden.

And from Slovakia, we have Centrum vzdelávania neziskových organizácií from Banskobystrický kraj, Banská Bystrica. 

What impact will this project have? 

We developed new resources for adult education practitioners to use in the classroom.
