AONTAS Welcomes Opportunity for Community Education Groups and Learners to Access Second Mitigating against Educational Disadvantage Fund

AONTAS has advocated for specific funding support for community education through engagement with the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, and Minister Simon Harris TD. AONTAS welcomed the first iteration of the Mitigating against Educational Disadvantage Fund (MAEDF) in 2020, and is delighted a second round of this vital funding is being rolled out nationwide.

AONTAS advocated for this fund in 2020 and again in 2021, as evidenced by the CEN Census 2020 research, the COVID-19 Community Education Support fund for 2020/2021 and the Pre-Budget submission 2021. AONTAS CEO Niamh O’Reilly recently published an update and reflection of AONTAS’ advocacy for a fairer distribution of funding for community education during COVID-19. Please click here to read this reflection.

Below, we direct AONTAS members to helpful links and updates on how they may access the MAED Fund.
