On Friday, 8th March, AONTAS and Women’s Community Projects, Mullingar (WCPM) launched Re-engagement with QQI: A Resource for Community Education Providers, as part of the AONTAS International Women’s Day Policy event.

The resource was launched with inputs from Walter Balfe, Head of Programmes and Provider Approval, QQI and Maureen Murtagh, Training and Education Co-ordinator/NCCWN Development Worker, WCPM.

The resource is one of a number of supports for AONTAS Community Education Network (CEN) members who provide QQI accredited programmes. AONTAS has delivered training on re-engagement to CEN members and continues in its advocacy work to highlight the needs of community providers who provide accredited programmes.

About the Resource

AONTAS has developed this resource with the WCPM in order to support community providers to maintain their ability to offer quality accredited provision to learners.

This resource aims to:

  • Support community providers to have an understanding of what is involved in the re-engagement process.
  • Outline the stages of the re-engagement process
  • Signpost community providers to the relevant QQI documents and guidelines
  • Provide some practical examples of what is involved in the re-engagement process

It also documents by way of a case study the experience and learning of Women’s Community Projects, Mullingar who participated in the QQI re-engagement pilot.

The resource will be of interest to managers, staff and board members of community education providers who are commencing the re-engagement process.  It will also be of interest to community providers who want to learn more about re-engagement and what it entails.
