Are you or your colleagues interested in getting expert training in designing and delivering a Voter Education and Active Citizenship programme for adult learners in Ireland?
We’re partnering with Dublin Adult Learning Centre (DALC) to run a free two-day residential experiential training programme on voter education.
This unique training programme is exclusively for Community Education Network Members and will run in Maynooth University on 2nd and 3rd February 2024.
We’re then offering €800 towards delivery costs of your own programme with adult learners, to raise awareness of why people should vote and how it makes a difference.
2024 will be a year of elections and possible political change. We will have local and European elections in June, and potentially a General Election later in the year. The referendum on removing the reference in the Irish constitution to women’s ‘life within the home’ will also take place on 8th March. And, given the concerning rise of far-right movements in Ireland at the moment, we’re working to raise awareness about what’s happening in Irish politics, and provide adult learners with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions.

What’s involved?
10 CEN members will be selected to take part in training on how to design and deliver a programme in voter education and active citizenship. This training programme will take place on 2nd and 3rd February 2024 in Maynooth University, with on-campus accommodation and meals provided.
The two-day training will be followed by one online session in February. Places are limited so be sure to apply early.
Once the training programme is complete, you will get a handbook of fantastic resources and the knowledge needed to run a six-week programme with learners.
You can carry out the programme with learners between February and May 2024.
