About this event
- Date: Thursday, 18th February
- Time: 10.00am - 1.00pm
- Venue: Zoom
The theme of the meeting will be ‘Opportunities’ and we will have inputs and discussion about the following topics:
- A new Level 7 course on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Following our successful CEN taster sessions on RPL with Josephine Finn in 2019, AONTAS commissioned UCC to design a course which will be geared towards people working in community education. It is hoped that this Level 7 online course will start this Spring and the fees for the first group of students will be covered by AONTAS under the European Agenda for Adult Learning. Ciara Staunton of the Centre for Adult and Continuing Education department of UCC will attend the meeting to talk about this course and the process involved in making an application. This course is a great CPD opportunity and will be hugely beneficial for anyone working in the sector, as well as their organisations, so we are encouraging all members to attend the meeting to find out more.
- The Cork experience of developing a ‘Learning Neighbourhoods’ initiative: Learning Neighbourhoods is a programme that aims to localise Learning City initiatives into neighbourhoods, to celebrate and showcase the learning that is already happening in neighbourhoods and to develop new opportunities for lifelong learning. Jennifer Walsh from the Centre for Adult Continuing Education in UCC will talk to CEN members about what we can learn from their experience of developing this initiative in Cork.
- Saolta SDG Advocate Programme: A member of the Saolta team will talk about this project which is now recruiting 26 changemakers to become Ireland's SDG Advocates 2021. This programme will give you an opportunity to join Ireland’s network of Active Citizens and create long-lasting change within your community whilst also contributing to achieving the Global Goals. The closing date for applications is 26th of February 2021. See information and application form at: https://www.developmentperspectives.ie/advocate.html
