Learner Voice Training

AONTAS offer Learner Voice Training to both learners and educators across the country.

Learner Voice is a concept based on the idea that learning should be guided by both learners and teachers.

The goal of Learner Voice activities is to listen and respond to what learners need, which will facilitate more learners returning to and staying in Further Education and Training. 

Learner Voice has always been and remains at the heart of AONTAS’ work, as we strive towards our vision of educational equality for all adult learners.

What is Learner Voice Training?

Learner Voice Training supports learners and ETB staff to work together to create learning environments where learners are listened to, involved in decision-making, and empowered to shape their educational experience.

Our training combines practical tools, discussion and real-world examples to help build meaningful Learner Voice structures and develop the skills, confidence and knowledge needed to make learner feedback a driver for positive change.

Whether you’re a learner interested in becoming a class representative or advocating for change, or a staff member looking to strengthen learner engagement in your ETB, our training provides practical support tailored to your role.

Training for Learners

Our Learner Voice Training gives learners the confidence, skills and knowledge to take an active role in shaping their learning experience. Through interactive workshops, learners explore topics including committee skills, advocacy, sharing their story, giving effective feedback and making change happen.

The training helps learners build confidence, develop leadership skills, represent their peers and contribute to creating positive change within their ETB and beyond.

Training for Educators

Our training for ETB staff supports educators and staff to develop sustainable Learner Voice structures that place learners at the centre of decision-making. Participants explore the principles of Learner Voice, share experiences with colleagues and gain practical tools and resources to strengthen learner engagement across their organisation.

The training is particularly valuable for staff developing Learner Councils, reviewing learner feedback processes or embedding Learner Voice into everyday practice.
