AONTAS the National Adult Learning Organisation in partnership with EPALE are hosting an online seminar on August 20th. This session is free and open to current and former adult learners from all levels and types of courses in Ireland.

Join experienced facilitator Rosemary Kunene, social activist, and learn about the Black Lives Matter movement and anti-racism. During this session, participants will:

    • Learn about the BLM movement and understand why it is necessary.
    • Identify different types of racism and the impact this has.
    • Learn about racism in Irish context including Irish Travellers and Direct Provision
    • Discuss experiences and understanding in a safe space
    • Build capacity to address racism with appropriate language and messaging to breakdown others misinformation and bias - moving towards active anti-racism
    • Identify positive actions for supporting the BLM campaign

This session is part of the Learners as Leaders programme in the current project Adult and Community Education: Supported Learner Pathways 2020-2021 as part of the European Agenda for Adult Learning (EAAL) in Ireland with thanks to the European Commission and SOLAS.
