About this event

AONTAS invites community education organisations, practitioners, advocates and partners to an informal, exploratory online gathering focused on building meaningful North–South collaboration in community education. Taking place online 2 – 4pm on 20 May, this session is designed as a space for conversation, listening and relationship building.

You can register now to join this important conversation.

The session will begin with a brief update on AONTAS’s recent all-island work. This will include an overview of our advocacy activity – including recent engagement with the Shared Island Unit in the Taoiseach’s Department – alongside our recent research. The meeting is intended as  a starting point for dialogue and new connections..

A key part of the session will be the meet‑and‑greet element, creating space for participants to connect with one another, share their perspectives and build relationships. We recognise the importance of building relationships and trust in any collaborative work, and this session is an opportunity to begin or strengthen those connections.

Central to the discussion will be a set of open questions that have emerged through AONTAS’ all island community education research and our own reflection and engagement to date:

  • What do community education organisations want and need when it comes to North–South collaboration? What are the possibilities?
  • What can AONTAS do to create a space for collaboration?
  • What are the practical and purposeful next steps we can take together?

This session is not about predetermined outcomes, but about listening, learning and exploring possibilities together. We warmly welcome participation from those interested in shaping future collaboration in community education across the island.
