The National Further Education and Training (FET) Learner Forum Annual Synthesis Report 2020-2021 brings together the findings from the National FET Learner Forum this academic year. In 2020-2021, the Forum held 18 events with 8 Education and Training Boards and reached 2050 learners. This report synthesises the findings from the eight reports developed from the project this year.
This launch will showcase the findings of the report and their centrality to FET planning and policy into the next year. It will also celebrate the learners who took part in this year's Forum and their resilience in engaging with FET during the COVID-19 restrictions.
Highlights of the event will include:
- Input from the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Simon Harris TD
- A video showcasing the experiences of some learners who took part in the Forum this year including Cathal Farrelly (Louth and Meath Education and Training Board), Karen O'Donovan (Cork Education and Training Board), Esther Jovial Kabongo (Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board), and Mary Jordan (Cork Education and Training Board)
- A learner-stakeholder panel, featuring learners Cathal Farrelly (Louth and Meath Education and Training Board) and Antoinette Byrd (Cork Education and Training Board) posing questions to key stakeholders including Shauna Dunlop (Director of Research, Data and Strategic Engagement, SOLAS), Ann McNamara (Adult Education Officer, Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board), Martha Bolger (Education and Training Boards Ireland). The panel will be chaired by Tara Farrell (Chairperson of the AONTAS Board)
- A keynote speech by Andrew Brownlee (CEO, SOLAS) and Shauna Dunlop (Director of Research, Data and Strategic Engagement, SOLAS)
