In order to represent the Irish adult and community education sector AONTAS is committed to influencing European and International policy developments which ultimately influence national education policy.
AONTAS’s recent involvement in the international field of adult and community education has resulted in:
- Shaping advocacy work, e.g. through shaping the Belem Framework for Action at CONFINTEA (International Conference on adult education)
- Supporting the learner voice at international level through its support of learner participation in conferences
- Promoting the Irish adult education system through keynote inputs at conference e.g. regarding the NFQ a the EAEA conference
AONTAS is an active member of the EAEA, the European Association for the Education of Adults, and is represented on the Board by Niamh O'Reilly and is active at global level through the ICAE, the International Council for Adult Education.
